Look at the world around us: economic collapse, wars and rumors of wars, natural disasters. It seems that the light at the end of the tunnel is a train! Could it be any worse?
Believe it or not, it has been worse…much worse. In Noah’s day, the earth was filled with violence. Everyone was corrupt, or so it seemed. But God knew Noah’s heart. Noah was a righteous man in the midst of unrighteous men. He was blameless when there was plenty of blame to go around. Noah walked with God when everyone else ran from God.
Noah must have been a lonely man. He preached to his community for 120 years without a single convert. “You think we need help,” his neighbors scornfully asked. “You’re the one building a giant boat on dry land!” But Noah remained faithful to his calling. Light shines brightest when it is most dark.
The dark days that we are in should not cause us to despair. We should rejoice, for the darkness provides us with a great opportunity. Live faithfully for Christ today. Shine His light in the darkness.
Be on mission this day. Help those around you to believe in God, belong to God’s family, and bless God’s world.
In Christ, Pastor David
